It will be cool to see where all of us New Yorkers ended up. (and, we might find somebody who lives near us) Keep your privacy, but how about announcing where you lived in the city, when that was, and where you live now. I will start. I lived on East 79th street, Manhatten during the 1960's, and now live in Central Massachusetts. I am 51. Married. Three grown sons.
I lived in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, in the 60s. Stapleton Heights, Staten Island, in the 70s. Hell's Kitchen in the 80s and 90s. I'm 51, widowed, retired, no kids, live in Southern Vermont now.
My name is John Murgo.
I’m from the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and live in Tarzana Ca. now in a town house. I have been in Ca. for a long time, I still don’t know what I’m doing here, maybe had to get away from the X’s. However, it is my home now. Most of my friends here are from the east coast; I see Matt Levy from time to time and belong to the to a Italian club “The Grandsons of Italy” here in Los Angeles. I don’t work any more but I do a little charity work with the club. We just did a Christmas party for three hundred Handicapped children and there families; I did the cooking for the function with some of the guys. I was doing some acting and I am working on a book. I may try to do some more acting. (I’m going nuts doing nothing) I have a wonderful girl I have been with for about twelve years now, and that maybe she will the last one, who knows. My three kids and my grand kids are out here and my sister and her family are also here, So it works for me. However, like all of us that k in our hearts of hearts we will always be New Yorkers that will never change for me. I still have family in New York and get back from time to time.
Hey John. I'm originally from Red Hook in Brooklyn. Moved to So Cal in the 70's. I hadn't heard of the Grandsons of Italy. My wife and I (she grew up on LI) belong to the Sons of Italy. We must be older than you (LOL).
Grew up in Flushing,Queens in the late 40's and '50's.........43rd ave,157 street. Stickball, Strikeout, Punchball, Running bases. If you had a ball you always had a friend. Taught and played those same games with all 3 of our Son's for many years. It all seemed to go south with all the rest of our heritage and neighborhoods.......Sad !
Currently live in the Southwest for obvious reasons......Semper Fi.
I grew up in the Brooklyn,Navy Yard aera.I now livw in New Haven,Indiana.Been here since 1970.I still miss so many things from my childhood. I also miss the great food.
I lived on 98th Avenue in Queens Village from 1960-1962, we then moved to Staten Island. We lived in a 3 bedroom apartment on Howard Avenue on Grymes Hill. In 1966 moved back to Queens Village at 9130 219th Street. In 1972 moved to Sanford NC when my Dad got transferred. I am 51, unmarried and have no children.
