second part of answer: then the witch would say what article of clothing she was putting on, then we'd advance another step up the stoop - by the time she was finished getting dressed and would open the door to run after us, the slowest person to run down the stoop would be out. Then she'd become the witch - really silly game - but as small children we loved it!
Hi, Cecilia - wow! your game sounds really rough - we were tough kids in Brooklyn, but not that tough! The "Old Mother Witch" game was really when we were young girls (maybe 6 to 8 yrs old). It really dosen't make sense now, thinking about it - but we had fun when we were little playing it. You needed a stoop and a vestibule.
